With the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the United States and the recent imposed closures, the City understands the major impacts on the business community and remains committed to providing helpful resources and information.

On March 15, 2020, the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom  called for the closures of all bars, nightclubs, wineries and breweries with restaurants lowering their dine-in patrons and focusing on takeout/drive-thru/delivery.

As of March 16, 2020, The Los Angeles County Health Department ordered the closure of the following businesses until March 31, 2020:

  • Restaurants 
    • Limited to allow only pick-up/takeout, delivery, and drive-thru.
  • Patrons are required to remain 6 feet apart while in the facility.
    Bars, Night Clubs (that don’t serve food)
  • Movie Theaters, Live Performance Theaters, Bowling Alleys, Arcades
  • Fitness Centers/Gyms

Grocery stores may remain open.

On March 19, 2020, the County of Los Angeles and the State of California issued a “Safer at Home Order” effective: March 19, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. and will continue through April 19, 2020:

  • Immediate CLOSURES of following types of commercial properties and businesses
    • Non-Essential Retail Businesses
    •  Indoor Malls and Indoor Shopping Centers
    • Indoor and Outdoor Playgrounds for Children
  • For public and private gatherings less than 10 people, the organizer shall enforce social distancing, provide access to hand washing or hand sanitizer, and adhere to any disease control recommendations.

Employee Assistance:

  • Reduced Hours/Closures
    • Layoff and Outplacement Services
      • For individuals who have or will be laid off due to business closure, downsizing or business bankruptcy, Anaheim Workforce Connection is offering free outplacement services, information on Unemployment Insurance benefits, career advice and resume assistance
    • Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim
      • This provides partial wage replacement benefit payments to workers who lose their job or have their hours reduced, through no fault of their own.
  •  Sick or Quarantined
  •  Caregiving
    • Paid Family Leave (PFL) claim
      • This provides up to six weeks of benefit payments to eligible workers who have a full or partial loss of wages because they need time off work to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond with a new child
  •  School Closures
    • Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim
      • If your child’s school is closed, and you have to miss work to be there for them, you may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

The City continues to actively monitor the situation with coronavirus to safeguard the health and safety of our residents and businesses.
