It is with great sadness that we share the loss of retired Irwindale Police Corporal Shan Jenkins, who passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018 after an extended battle with cancer.

One of six children, Shan was born on November 17, 1952 and was raised in Tucson Arizona. He graduated from Catalina High School and later relocated to California, eventually entering a career in law enforcement. Shan joined the Irwindale Police Department in April 1989 and retired in November 2016. During his tenure, he served as a patrol officer, a Detective, a Commercial Enforcement Officer, a Field Training Officer and a Corporal. Prior to joining the Irwindale Police Department, Shan worked with the Sierra Madre Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer.

Shan is survived by his wife Lauren, his son Taylor, his daughter Amber, his four grandchildren, Faith, Noah, Xavier and Braxton, and his siblings Joan, Christy, Kit, Tim and Joel.

Services for Corporal Jenkins will be held this Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Oakdale Memorial Cemetery in Glendora. In lieu of flowers, Shan’s family wishes that donations be made to City of Hope (https://bit.ly/2H5GLzh) who provided Shan with excellent care and as much comfort as possible during his 3-year battle with cancer.

Please join Irwindale Police Chief Ty Henshaw and the members of the Irwindale Police Department as we mourn Shan’s loss and support his family during this difficult time.
