Irwindale Speedway Most recently, reclamation efforts have resulted in the development of the nationally recognized Irwindale Speedway and the Irwindale Business Center, a 100 acre, specially designed industrial development. The Irwindale Speedway features a wide, high-banked oval "Mini-Super Speedway" located on a 63 acre site directly adjacent to the 605 Freeway. Racing fans across the United States recognize the track as being the most high-tech raceway in the nation! Opened in March of 1999, the 6,500 seat facility boasts all the accommodations of the newest giant super tracks in scaled-down proportions. Luxury suites, stadium lighting, close-in parking for over 2,500 cars, fully paved and brightly lit pits, a well-equipped NASCAR tech building, clean rest rooms, serviceable showers, a 1/8 mile dragstrip, top flight on-site food service by Pasadena's renown Twin Palms Catering, and much more. Car shows, tent sales, new vehicle introductions, media ride and drives, car club slalom events, musical concerts, filming of TV shows and commercials as well as feature productions are just a small sampling of on-going events offered at the Irwindale Speedway throughout the year. The City of Irwindale has a close partnership with the Irwindale Speedway, and can arrange a "welcome night" for new businesses relocating to the City and their employees. Just give our Economic Development Manager a call and leave the rest to us! Irwindale Business Center Phase I of the Business Center, consisting of 1.2 Million square feet and a value of $65 Million, was completed in the third quarter of 2001 and accounted for about 20% of new industrial space constructed in the San Gabriel Valley. The Center was 50% leased upon completion, and approximately 85% leased by the end of the year a great testament to a quality development and a business-friendly city environment! Phase II consisted of two build-to-suit facilities for Charter Communications and is fully occupied. Phase III, under construction, will add approximately 700,000 square feet of additional industrial space. Approximately 5 acres fronting Arrow Highway has been retained for retail uses to better serve the business community and residential population. Plans are being submitted now for new restaurants, a convenience store/fast foot/car wash facility and other needed retail services. With traffic counts on Arrow Highway of almost 25,000 daily, and almost 19,000 daily commuters on Irwindale Avenue, the site offers tremendous potential for retail establishments. |
